Well, Tony was back from being a cat for over a week. And he only vaguely had the urge to knock things off tables and bump his head into Steve's shoulder for attention. Which was reasonable and normal for their lives.

But, to make up for being gone, he'd picked up donuts on his way back from the radio station. Did it make up for leaving Steve to hold down the fort that whole time? Eh, 50/50 on that one. But he was trying anyway! "Steve?"

Adrian and Rey'd had a date planned for tonight - nothing major, just some spending a bit of time together. But when he saw the reindeer made of lights wandering through the Grove, he'd had a much, much better idea than just cooking dinner and maybe enlisting her help with making Christmas gifts.

"Do you think telling her to dress warmly will give it away?" he fretted at asked Boston. Boston, who was once again reminded how much energy Lydia-kitty had, opened one weary eye. "Yes," he said. "Telling her to dress warm in December is surely only something one would do if they were up to something."

Adrian scooped up Lydia-kitty, pulling her away from her current favorite toy: Boston's tail. "It's not that cold," he scoffed.

"Spoken like someone who grew up in a forest in Massachusetts," Boston said, letting his eyes drift shut again. "You should tell her to dress warmly. You'll only fuss if you don't."

"Good poi--hey! I don't fuss!"

Boston was not inclined to dignify that nonsense with a response. Not when there was prime napping to be done, and he was going to take advantage of it while Adrian entertained Lydia.

"Oh! Oh! Boston, I know the best way to handle this!" Adrian said, excited. He read off the text he'd just sent Rey. "Don't forget to dress warm--Baby, It's Cold Outside. Get it? Like the Christmas song!"

...If anybody needed Boston, he'd be hiding under a plant in the greenhouse. Emphasis on hiding.

[For the aforementioned date, if you'd be so kind!]

While the exterior of the mansion was, in fact, creepy and intimidating as ever, inside was nothing but festive warmth. Most of the decorations had already been put up, save for the one big main centerpiece, which was far too important and certainly did require a full afternoon and evening to take care of: their Christmas tree. Brought in directly from Nell's Soulwood property by Gladio, it was a full and impressive evergreen that infused the air with the fresh scent of pine, mingling perfectly with all the notes of cinnamon and peppermint already lingering in the wake of Ignis's flurry of food preparation, so that he and Liliana would have plenty to nibble on and sip at as they dripped its branches with holiday elegance and accoutrements.

Of course, his timing with everything had been impeccable, leaving a nice moment where he could just sort of enjoy his hard work through the day with a very strong mug of coffee spiked with both mint and alcohol. Listening to the orchestral sweeps of music and the crackling fire, waiting for Liliana to get home from the Consortium. Which, considering he'd insisted they wait until she'd finished with her work, he suspected would be sooner rather than later.

And another great part of it? Ignis didn't even have to look at how ugly anyone's sweaters were today, although he could certainly have done without the island apparently compensating by making the sweater he was stuck with feel almost as wretched as it no doubt appeared.

[[ mostly for the lady of the house, but certainly can be open for other visitors, with the caveat that I will likely be S L O W as hell ]]

So. Riri hadn't been around in a bit.

And there was a cat hanging out on Riri's bed.

"Dude," Billie told it. "This is most unanticipated."

The cat seemed unconcerned.

Never let it be said that Billie neglected an animal in her care, even if she hadn't been told ahead of time that there would be an animal in her care. In short order she had food and water dishes for the creature, as well as a fabulous record player-shaped scratcher and some handy tool-shaped catnip toys which the cat fell upon with enthusiasm as soon as they were out of the package.

"It seems we have acquired a cat," Billie mused out loud as she filmed the little thing's antics. "Excellent! . . . I hope Riri isn't allergic. . . ."

At some point, she would put this event together with the radio reports about other people becoming animals across the island. For now? She was just going to enjoy playing with the kitty.
