Well, the new class schedule was out and it was maybe a little bit confusing at the moment. Because Jane was certain she hadn't offered to do a second class. And it seemed like maybe a small disaster to have it be about mythology, all things considered.

Maybe it was a mistake and she just needed to go clear it up at the office! That was it. You know, before it turned into an awkward conversation with Thor or Don.

Which she was putting off by just frowning at the schedule in her hands.

Hey, Jane, someone was knocking on your door! One might even say...hammering.

So much for putting things off?

A girl could dream, okay?

"Don," Jane said once she opened the door. "Hi. Did you put down Thor for a class and the office thought it meant me?"

"I was coming to ask if this was your fault," Don admitted, because, yes, he had his copy of the schedule clutched in his right hand, since the left was occupied with the stick. "I signed up to teach anatomy." One might note that anatomy was not represented on the class list.

Thor was being awfully quiet, but Don had not quite noticed that yet.

"I only had my class with Cara," Jane replied dryly. Because she wasn't about to be setting herself up for an awkward hour each week, thank you. "...which is apparently on cute animal friendships."

Was Don's face doing a thing? He was working really hard at not letting his face do a thing here, but he felt like it might be anyway. "And that...was the class you meant to teach?" Even if his face wasn't doing a thing he felt like it might be coming through in his voice, because...cute animal friendships?

"Well, Cara isn't a fan of astrophysics and I'm not a fan of teaching kids how to dismember someone in a fight, so we compromise on things that neither of us would ever pick normally."

It worked somehow.

"...right. But how did this happen?" Don asked, shaking his copy of the schedule on 'this.' "It has to be a mistake, right?" Someone else was already teaching mythology!

[needsacatchphrase]

Sometimes it was just funny to have extra!

"I was thinking maybe the moose?" You know all about the moose, right? Right, Don? Thor explained about the moose?

"The...moose?" No one had explained the moose!

[needsacatchphrase]

"Oh." Did that one sound fill you with some dread, Don?

[ifwebeworthy]

It sure did! "What moose? There's a moose?" There was a moose!

"There's a moose. In the school office," Jane said gently. "And that's who you complain about classes to."

Did you now understand why she wasn't even questioning the animal friendship class?

He was now under the belief that she had chosen the animal friendships class herself, actually, and he had concerns, but he was now fully distracted from those concerns. "Like...like an actual moose?"

[needsacatchphrase]

Wrong kind of friendships, Don. God. Think a badger and a coyote just chilling in a drainage tunnel.

"Yes. And they're not very interested in complaints, but I was hoping that maybe I could bribe them this time."

It would not work.

"What...what do you bribe a moose with?" He considered. "Could we make Thor do it?"

Absolutely not, Thor said, like a traitor who was determinedly pretending this wasn't his fault.

"He says he won't do it."

[needsacatchphrase]

"What?" Thor, explain yourself.

[ifwebeworthy]

"Yeah, why not?" Don demanded. "...he wants to know if I've ever met a moose. Okay but I'm a puny mortal and you're the god of thunder," he said to a vaguely not-Jane point, and then focused on Jane. "You're the god of thunder." Make your ex from another universe go argue with the moose, Don, brilliant plan.

"Well, I'll talk to the moose on my own since he's too cowardly to help."

Look, she knew exactly what she was doing and not many people could say that.

"Are you sure?" It was a moose. A whole entire moose. Just some megafauna chilling in the office.

[needsacatchphrase]

Not in the slightest.

"I've got this."

Don, nothing was going to be fixed.

[ifwebeworthy]

"Because most of what I know outside of the Norse pantheon is how to beat up Ares," Don explained. "And I can't even do that. That was Thor."

When Don saw the written class description instead of just the schedule, so much was going to become clear.

[needsacatchphrase]

"...wait, really?" Look, all she knew was the Norse pantheon.

"He can be a real asshole, but I guess it comes with the whole 'god of war' territory." Their lives.

[needsacatchphrase]

"Okay, so maybe we pump Thor and Val for information if we can't convince the moose to change things."

Enjoy all the discussions about which goddesses were good in bed, guys.

They couldn't run a whole class on that, could they?

...could they?

"...I'll start reading Wikipedia, I guess," Don sighed. "Thor can tell me which parts are wrong, at least?"

"We can look in the library too!" Yes, research this to be told it was all wrong.

[ifwebeworthy]

"I know the Norse books here are all out of whack," Don said. "None of them say Thor and Loki are brothers, even. It's been a real problem trying to figure out...well, never mind. So...we'll see how the rest of them are."

Wrong and full of goddesses Thor and Val were going to rate on a scale of 1-10.

"Oh, and they say he's a redhead too," Jane said, remembering that from back when she first met Thor. "Weirdly."

"So...should we start with that?" Don asked. "If we can't get the moose to see sense." Spoiler alert: the moose would not see sense.
